AIM
The Field Grade Officers Course (CPOS) – Navy supports the training of Navy First lieutenants providing them with the skills and military technical expertise required to perform functions as senior officers.
COURSE STRUCTURE
The Field Grade Officers Course – Navy comprises 17 course units in various scientific areas, organized around two training components: a specific training component attended only by Navy students , and a common and joint training component, taught jointly to all students of the Field Grade Officers Course – CPOS (Navy, Army, Air Force and Guarda Nacional Republicana – National Republican Guard);
The course is organized in accordance with the European Credits Trading System (ECTS). The total number of credits required to complete the course is 60 ECTS (32 ECTS allocated to the specific Navy training component, plus 28 ECTS allocated to the common and joint component).

COURSE LENGHT
The course duration is one curricular year, approximately 36 weeks including school holidays, in daytime and on an exclusive basis.
QUALIFICATIONS CONFERRED BY THE COURSE
The Field Grade Officers Course – Navy Diploma (Post-graduation in Navy Military Sciences) is awarded to students who have completed the course successfully;
This Course is a special condition for promotion to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander;
Being part of the career-long training process, the Field Grade Officers Course – Navy is compatible with the general rules of structure and curriculum evaluation practiced in study levels within the higher military studies without, in itself, conferring an academic degree. Nevertheless, the course makes it possible to carry out further studies in the Security and Defence fields of study.
COURSE ADMISSION CONDITIONS
The Field Grade Officers Course – Navy may be attended, on an exclusive basis, by specifically appointed officers of the Navy Permanent Staff with the rank of First lieutenant;
The course may be attended by officers of similar posts from friendly countries, under a superiorly defined access regime.
