AIM

The Advanced Land Operations Planning Course qualifies Army Officers (from armed services and services branches) graduated with the Field Grade Officers Course with the branch-specific skills required for the planning and conduct of land operations.

This course aim is to expand the knowledge necessary to plan and employ Land Forces.

As a final goal, the course intends to broaden and deepen the general knowledge and military culture needed to plan and conduct Land Operations at higher levels such as division, corps and component command, which are fundamental to the performance of general staff functions within the areas of military knowledge.

This training seeks to develop critical and creative thinking in land forces’ planning, as well as the capacity for analysis, synthesis and argumentation through the application of methodologies directed to the discussion and debate.

COURSE STRUCTURE

The Advanced Land Operations Planning Course comprises three course units in Military Sciences’ scientific areas of Military Operations and Study of Crisis and Armed Conflict.

The course is organized in accordance with the European Credits Trading System (ECTS). The total number of credits required to complete the course is 6,5 ECTS.

COURSE LENGTH

The Advanced Land Operations Planning Course covers a period of four weeks, corresponding to 120 contact hours.

QUALIFICATIONS CONFERRED BY THE COURSE

The Advanced Land Operations Planning Course Diploma is awarded to students who have completed 6,5 ECTS.

COURSE ADMISSION CONDITIONS

Active duty officers with the rank of Major or Lieutenant Colonel, or Army Captains graduated from the Field Grade Officers Course may attend the Advanced Land Operations Planning Course, on an exclusive basis.

The course can be attended by officers of friendly countries of similar ranks under a superiorly defined access regime.
